A group of five fathers attended our first Fathering 101 Workshop held over two Saturdays morning. The program is in collaboration with New Life Stories (NLS).
The learning outcomes: By the end of the session, fathers will have understood the impact of their fathers on them as fathers and that they be more involved, consistent, aware and nurturing in their day-to-day fathering to their children.
Feedback from participant Mr H1: he called the 1st session, "the best". He appreciated the supportive stance of the workshop. He liked how everyone got to share their experiences & the culture of sharing and learning from one another. He liked how the trainers did not set themselves up as the experts but as co-fathers in the same learning journey as him. He felt supported, empathized & he actually enjoyed the experience and the company.
Feedback from participant Mr H2: he got to practice self-awareness, and the session invited him to reflect upon, develop awareness over his relationships of the past with his father and presently, with his son. He continues to do so after the session, reflecting upon the kinds of conversations he has been having with his son as well as how he has been connecting with him and the kinds of impact these would have on the son. He is actually motivated to want to contribute to society in this way if there is a platform for him. (He is a little shy or insecure to share his feedback or if he has questions and usually waits to be invited if he has anything to share or ask- for your future reference).
Looking forward to more collaboration with NLS.
